This is a fun activity for young children which requires close observation and number matching. What to do: Show the first page of the quiz to the class or to a group of children. The page shows 15 baby animal parts and each one is numbered. See if children can name the baby animals from the small parts they can see. Give each child a copy of sheet 2, the numbered template. Children can write the name of the animals or draw them next to the correct numbers. Sheet 3 shows the full pictures of the 15 baby animals. Children could mark off the animals as they recognise them from the quiz. Or, they can cut out the pictures and add them to sheet 2 - pasting them onto the correct number squares. The final sheet is a colouring page showing the 15 baby animals.

The ‘Mystery Boxes’ game is a perfect ice-breaking activity designed for EYFS and KS1 children. The game uses symbols and is a fun resource for SEND children too. Boardmaker Licenced. In the game, each child gets a turn to open a ‘Mystery Box’ containing a picture card. This prompts children to introduce themselves and share a bit about their lives, connecting their introductions with the picture on the card. For example, a card with an apple might encourage a child to say, “My name is Lucy and my favourite fruit is an apple.” The game encourages speaking and listening.
